Golf media included, Fox sports reporter and golf blogger Stephanie Wei, Golf.com golf writer Brendan Mohler and the well respected Canadian Golf travel writer Brian Kendall.
The Golf Tour operators where from all over the States, some doing business already in the region with the hope of increasing and others looking to develop future trips for their clients.
The week started out with an overnight and dinner with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau in the heart of Glasgow, showcasing how close the city is to the golfing mecca of Ayrshire. With great links by road, air and train it is a well accessible golf destination for the US market.
5 days of glorious sunshine followed with games at Trump Turnberry, Royal Troon, Prestwick, Dundonald Links and Western Gailes. A fine list of courses for the guests to challenge their games on.
Throughout the week they stayed at several accommodation providers to showcase the diversity and availability of places to stay. From small golf hotels, to traditional golf resorts, as well as 5 star exclusive use venues covering all aspects of what a golf client may wish for on their trip to Ayrshire.
We have had some excellent feedback from both media and tour operators from the trip and we are looking forward to seeing the written articles/blogs in the future. Some of the Tour Operators have already included the hotels viewed in their new 2016 golf itineraries which will result in more visiting golfers to the Ayrshire coast in years to come.
Ayrshire Golf Scotland has also hosted some smaller sized media fam trips over the last couple of months including Go Golf TV who filmed the regions golf courses and attractions as part of an episode that will air next year on some of the biggest Airlines worldwide including Air France, Jet Air, Air India and Avancia to name a few which has a current outreach of 5 million passenger per month so a great platform to showcase Ayrshire Golf Scotland on their Golf Passport show. (Details to follow when episode is ready.)
We also had 5 French golf journalist visit the region this September, playing Trump Turnberry. we did this in partnership with Glasgow city marketing bureau and we hope to have some good coverage over the coming months.
An Irish golf writers trip also took place in September with over 20 Journalists taking the trip over playing Irvine Bogside, Dundonald Links and Troon Lochgreen. Many thanks to Guy Redford who hosted the trip and we expect some good coverage of the region to come from this.
Lastly Golf Monthly visited the region early this month for an up and coming Ayrshire feature which will be in their February edition which will come out this December, so be sure to pick up a copy and have a look.
All in all a great Summer hosting Media and Tour Operators with some great coverage reaching many golfers throughout the world.
